Dr. Richard A. Williams

Dr. Williams was born in Jackson, TN, and grew up in Savannah, TN. From a young age, Dr. Williams was inspired by his family dentist and orthodontist.
After experiencing his own smile transformation, he developed a passion for helping others do the same. Being able to help others increase their self-confidence while building lasting relationships is an honor he cherishes.
In September of 1985, Dr. Williams opened his practice to give patients in the DeSoto County area healthy, beautiful smiles. For more than 30 years, Dr. Williams has provided high-quality orthodontic care to patients of all ages.
Dr. Williams and his family live in Nesbit and have built many meaningful relationships throughout their time together.
Education & Experience
Dr. Williams earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Tennessee at Martin. From there, Dr. Williams obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center Dental School.
Dr. Williams is very involved in various orthodontic organizations, always seeking to expand his knowledge and skills while also sharing his own experience with others.
Dr. Williams is the program director of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Tennessee Dental School and has served on the faculty since 1985.
Professional Affiliations
Dr. Williams is a board-certified orthodontist, a designation held by only 30% of orthodontists. Additionally, throughout the year, Dr. Williams attends seminars, symposiums, and meetings related to oral healthcare to learn about developing technologies and new treatment processes.
Both his teaching and participation in continuing education keep him exposed to the most current trends and techniques in orthodontics and enable him to provide the best care for his patients.

Outside the Office
Dr. Williams has been happily married to his wife, Cynthia, for more than 30 years. They have two beautiful daughters, Olivia and Meredith, who are both studying to become physical therapists. They also have two schnauzers, Jake and Ellie.
Dr. Williams' biggest passions in life are faith, fatherhood, and family. He's been blessed to enjoy raising his children with his soulmate and enjoys every aspect of being a parent.
When he's not transforming smiles, Dr. Williams loves trips to the beach with his family and outdoor activities, such as golf, fishing, and duck hunting.
